A CPR Prompt In Your Hand
A few years ago, two nurses from the next court jumped in when I went down at the end of an extremely competitive pickleball game. After four minutes of CPR, a trainer rushed in from the office with a defibrillator. Three hours later, surgeons at Baystate Health placed a stent in my “widow-maker” artery.
Over 40 years ago, I invented and patented CPRPrompt, a wall-mounted, electronic device that offered a calm, digitized voice leading trained rescuers through CPR to standards established by the American Heart Association. Thousands of CPRPrompt commercial units were sold and mounted on the walls of plants, offices, and schools. An investment group purchased rights to the electronic CPRPrompt with a plan of converting the successful commercial model into a less expensive consumer product. This group failed at marketing the consumer model, and the project was abandoned.
As I lay in bed at Baystate Health after the heart attack, I dreamed that I could create a mobile phone app and put CPRPrompt in the hands of every CPR-trained rescuer. Now my dream has been realized as we introduce CPRPrompt-Adult, CPRPrompt-Baby, and CPRPrompt-Child. Download one or all three of these apps free and refresh the CPR skills you may need for an emergency. Click this YouTube link to see the original CPRPrompt in action:

In the last year, I have expanded the CPR prompting concept with translations of the original English instructions of the first three CPRPrompt apps, to include Spanish, French, German, Korean, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese. These apps can be found on the App Store. These translations complete my vision of placing CPR prompting in the hands of trained rescuers throughout the world.
The apps provided by the CPR Prompt Corporation may be downloaded at no charge. They carry no advertising, are not linked to any websites, feature no marketing, and do not discriminate. Each app opens with the warning, “These prompts are for persons trained in CPR. Untrained rescuers may harm victims."

Privacy Policy for CPR Prompting Apps – Effective June 10th 2025
The CPR Prompt Corporation’s prompting apps are for persons trained in CPR. Untrained rescuers may harm victims. These warnings are listed on the face of the Apps and are the first words spoken by the mobile phone’s speech files.
The CPR Prompting Apps developed by the CPR Prompt Corporation follow the CPR procedures published by the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross over the past forty years. The concept originated with the wall-mounted CPR Prompt device patented by Donald Hutchins over thirty years ago.
Apps developed by the CPR Prompt Corporation are free for download with no advertising included in the prompting sound files. We do not collect any information from users. We do not sell any contact information from the Apps or any contact information from the Apple App Store.
